The weather was cold last winter, too, and there's no mention of the pipe runs being any longer than last winter.

I have no idea why a service should make a boiler run worse than before. Can you get the guys back?

Once it is hot for the second time, does it stay that way, or is the hot/cold cycle repeated indefinitely?

Have you got it in pre-heat mode or "eco" mode? (with preheat it keeps a couple of litres of water hot inside the boiler to give more "instant" hot water on demand)

If this is new after the service, it sounds like some kind of maintenance induced failure - might be worth getting the person who serviced it back to fix it (preferably at their expense!)

FYI, my Ideal Logic has no water store inside beyond the internal pipework. So far as I can tell the pre-heat just does some sort of cycle - enough to produce a tepid drip.

Indeed - although the OP's description is how mine has always worked, especially now it's colder. The time HW takes to come through is the worst feature of this boiler.

Well any service company should detail exactly what they did, and if so you could see what they fiddled with, otherwise if its in a worse state than it was in the first place I'd feel justified in recalling them to put it right, myself. Brian
