Hadrians Wall

Sep 16, 2014 29 Replies

Heard several people on about rebuilding Hadrians wall if there's a yes vote. I don't think we'll have to. The Scots will have to as in all socialist paradises. (Neccesary to keep the population in.) I wonder if the Berlin wall sections are still about/available?

Many No voters will flee Scotland along with their money before it is converted to groats/poonds. Will the price of houses rise in England? Will there be refugee camps? Will they bring their sheep with them. Can they interbreed with our sheep? Will we have to set up Haggis/Mars bars Bars/Irn Brew factories?

Scotland will be deserted. Maybe we could send some illegel immgrants up there to become honorary Scotsmen.

Heh Heh.

Hadrian's Wall is actually nowhere near the modern border.

It is not too far off at the western end.

Who, the 'NO' voters? :-)

Over 60 miles at the eastern end. I do wish people would stop these silly references to Hadrian's Wall (it's not as if they haven't been told enough).

That'll go down like a lead ballon with most of Northumberland, they don't get a vote yet become part of the new place?

There aren't that many already, 174 per square mile average. (5.295 million over 30,414 sq miles. But with a million of them in the central belt the density over the rest of the country is even lower.

560/sq mile for England average. (53.01 million over 94,545 sq miles)

60 miles of what was it the "desolate north" ...

Doesn't help the the A1 or A68 are just normal, one lane each way, A roads. Last time I went up the A1 it was like a cart track the surface was breaking up so much, this was just after winter 2009/10 or 2010/11 though.

At least at the other end it's motorway all the way to Glasgow, though some is only 2 lanes each way. The Cumberland Gap was closed quite a while back.

Why don't you f*ck off with your nasty s**te?

What will happen with law enforcement? Will we have the border raiders back, sheep rustling etc. Hot pursuit up to the border then what?

Ha ha. Up here (or rather down here) on Tyneside, we have always regularly received Scottish bank notes in our change, and they're used as sterling (because actually at the moment they *are* sterling).

This week I received a (lovely) Scottish tenner at the pub, and for the first time in my life I hesitated about accepting it. NEXT week, if they vote Yes tomorrow, I will DEFINITELY refuse it.

John

No they aren't. They're pretty pieces of paper. Promissory notes drawn on a bankrupt Scottish bank being propped up by the British taxpayer.

You forgot to mention 50 caliber sniper rifles from a mile inside the scottish border. Where you don't have jurisdiction..

And of course tunnels UNDER the border to smuggle in those pesky SAMs.

Sheep rustling is already big business. et al.

But if the Scots can rewind the clock 300 years to become an independent country what is to stop them, once they get independence, rewinding it a further 1500 to claim that Hadrians Wall is the true historic border and that everyone living there wants to be part of Scotland.

Worked for Putin in the Crimea.

Let's throw the anglo saxons out of Anglia.

Hang on. I am half anglo saxon. And half welsh. This could be embarrassing.

I really don't want to live in Saxony, Frisia OR Wales.

if the fishy gentleman keeps all his promises the country will be bankrupt within weeks.

Despite none of them having taken part in the referendum? In any case, the Antonine wall is also an historic border.
