The gutter at the front of my bungalow pours water over the end in heavy rain. I have cleaned it out and rodded the drop pipe but the outlet is about an inch above the level it needs to be because the drop pipe is too long.
It may be as old as the bungalow (40 years). I need to remove 4 x screws to get the drop pipe brackets off then cut about an inch off it, drop the guttering and re-fit.
Any suggestions as to how I can avoid the whole thing crumbling apart in my hands? Would a few drops of oils on the screws the day before help me get those out? Should I try using a spudger to ease the brackets off? Heat them with a hair dryer?
I just want to make the adjustment without having it all fall apart!
