Anyone know the pressure range to be expected in a low pressure gas main ie the one presented to the govenor before it goes through the domestic meter ? Obviously it will vary with demand in the area but what are the limits?
I know on the consumer side of the meter it should be 20-22 mBar on full load but would be interested to know how much range the govenor has to work on.

The mains pressure could range from around 25Mb to around 39Mb depending on area ,state of the local distribution network and demand. Typically though its around the 30Mb mark give or take a couple of Mb, Assuming that you have a standard low pressure supply and not a medium or intermediate supply.
It cannot be assumed that the supply will be low pressure as it is becoming increasingly common to supply premises using medium to low pressure regulators. It would probably be obvious if you had one of these though..

ISTR that in the days before new-fangled units like millibars were invented , it came in at 20" H2O, and was governed down to 8". So, in round figures, the input pressure was 50 mB.
