gardeners in SW London

We need gardening work, viz garden clearance, levelling, applying topsoil, laying turf rolls, instlation of lawn edge, plant three shrubs, all inclusive.

This has been quoted by a professional gardening firm at GBP 910 for materials and waste, and 760 labour. Total, GBP 1670.

This figure seems quite high. I am looking for another two or three firms for quotes. What firms in SW London are reputable and have fair costs? How much approximatey should I be paying for this work?

We could give you an exact price, but without knowing whether it's a 1 bed flat or a mansion it would be a bit meaningless.

I used a small firm to landscape including re-building a garden wall and doing some paving quite some time ago. They made an excellent job of the building work and the landscaping bit done as I wanted. They came recommended by friends.

Company was EC Landscapes and they also advertised in the local rag - but have no idea if they are still around.

You are going to have to pay quite a bit at London labour rates. Given the costs of housing. If they don't live locally, you'll end up paying travelling time one way or another.

Depends on how big it is, and how much stuff needs to be removed. Its maybe a little high but this is London. Brian

The OP hasn't stated if there is off road access for parking vans, skips and space for deliverys either. That can be an additional cost to consider in many areas.

+1.

Didn't seem to me to be alarmingly high for London.

You forgot to mention that it is all the Tories fault...

No need. Someone like you always brings it to the attention of others.

But then I don't have a problem with London labour rates for anything. If I decide they are too high, I'll DIY.

Does it come as a surprise to you to know that's what this group is for?

It probably does given not one single one of the 133 posts from you on this newsreader is about DIY. Including this one.
