Garden furniture repair

Aug 21, 2012 9 Replies

I'm trying to find some replacement parts for garden furniture, those screws with sockets that have Allen keyholes in the ends, and always undo a little every time the chairs are opened and closed, to the point where they fall out and get lost. So far, I am having no luck. Any help, including the right Search term, would be much appreciated.

B & Q do a "Furniture repair kit" that might do the job

Say what you see. Try "socket head screw"

Maybe, but they haven't made it findable on their website! If it's there, I would love to know where to look.

CPC. Get some Nyloc nuts while you're about it.

Or if you have an Ikea nearby, go and root through the "bargain corner". They have baskets full of assorted screws, many like this, and you can fill a bagful for a quid!

So far, I have found similar, but not exactly what I need. IKEA is about 50 miles from here, so not interested! But thanks for the suggestion.

Machine screw or bolt.

It's not identifying the thread that is the problem, it's finding the correct shape of 'nut'. I'm giving up on online efforts, I'll just go round all the local hardware places. There is a wholesale fastener place opposite the wholesale plumbers' supplier, I'll try there.

Hanging up in the door hinge and stuff section in the shop

Physical sightings only, no digital, then? The term 'local' used to refer to our closest B&Q (and also Wickes) is misleading, hence the attempt to find this online. Any visits are combined with others to the same town to make them worth the cost of petrol. But thanks for the guidance.
