Fridge Filter rip-off...

Jul 07, 2010 5 Replies

Hi,

We bought a Fisher Pakel fridge freezer 6 months ago and the other day, noticed a new symbol on the display. Looking in the manual, the water filter needs replacing every 6 months or after a certain amount of water has been dispensed whichever comes first.

No problem I thought until I looked at the price.... =A3106. This unbelievable - best case scenario is =A3213 a year for cold water!!! I would expect unlimited chilled beer for that!!!

The filter itelf is external to the fridge (it is located in the cupboard next to it for access) so I was wondering it I could rip it out and replace it with a more cost effective solution.... Any ideas?

thanks in advance

Lee.

better tell us what's in it. I expect carbon, with or without silver and copper. And those can be had for way less than =A3106!

We've used filters from

our Samsung. They sell filters for some FP models at =A314.29 each.

Not sure what is in it but this is the item...

this price, I would want it gold plated!!

I wouldn't base anything on partmaster prices! A quick google turns up much cheaper options, eg

=A349.99 if you buy 2.

.

Thanks very much... Looking at Pozzani seems like they have a much cheaper system which replaces the gadget that comes with the fridge/ freezer.
