Hotpoint fridge filtered water issue

We have a mega Hotpoint fridge, American style with two doors, wide fridge, narrow freezer and with an ice and filtered water dispenser.

About every 6 months a light comes on to tell us to change the filter. Mostly I ignore it and just press the reset button and we?re good for another 6 months. ;-)

As it happens though, I did treat it to a new filter about 2 months ago.

Anyhow, the ?change filter? light had come on again and this time it won?t reset. I?ve tried removing and reinserting the filter and turning the fridge off at the wall but it still won?t reset.

I certain that the ?change filter? light is just time triggered, there?s nothing smart about it.

Any suggestions? It?s just a mild annoyance really. Filtered water still comes out. I?m just curious as to why it won?t reset this time.

I'm sure I've seen service manuals floating around for fridges.

What's the model number?

Duh. Found the manual after a bit of a rake through the kitchen drawers. Classic case of needing to RTFM!

I blame my wife. She was the one who said it wouldn?t reset. It wouldn?t reset as the light is *supposed* to be on all the time, it just changes colour when it needs changing.

Had she not misled me in the first place I wouldn?t have got excited by a green light. ;-)

That didn?t work because it didn?t need resetting. ;-). See my other post.

I'm terribly sorry, but I laughed out loud at your problem.

It reminds me that I was recently summoned for a daddy-mend-it because the kettle wouldn't work. Admittedly, there were several plugs around, so perhaps it wasn't completely obvious that it wasn't plugged in.
