Time to own up, I didn't quite close the freezer door fully - So I am looking for a freezer alarm. Something which will make a noise if the temperature in the freezer rises above say -10C.
All I can see on ebay, numerous ones - is freezer alarms which say the alarm can be set to between Lo 18C and Hi 28C. Surely not?
Do they really mean Lo (minus)-18C and Hi +28C?

Last summer I posted this. It shows temperatures a lot lower than -18C. Batteries last for at least a year.

On account of the recent hot weather, I got one of these. It's works surprisingly well. Two remote sensors, great range, good display, rising/falling indicator, strong magnets, etc. Can't understand why it's so cheap because I would place this as a £35 device not £14.50.
The range is crazy good. With the senders inside my two freezers, both senders transmitted 50 feet through the steel walls of each freezer, 3 internal walls and one external wall. I'm using two Duracell Industrial AA's which probably helps a bit but also shouldn't run out quickly.
The Japlish instructions are incomprehensible but I think the unit is clever enough to account for freezer door opening when deciding to trip the alarm and it waits 10 minutes (or something which looks like that in Japanese) before using the temp value to indicate up or down trend.
Best thing I've bought all year.
It even has four decent neodymium mounting magnets which saves me supergluing a proper magnet on the back of the display which I had to do with my old probe thermometer and also any digital timers.
I've just used an inside/outside thermometer with a a wire to the 'outside' sensor. One with an alarm, of course. But new freezer has an alarm!
I have two Brennan ones and you can set the alarm temps to anything you like. They had quite long cables but not long enough so I extended them. This had no effect on the accuracy.
My talking thermometer has like a lower and upper temp and starts saying the temp when these are reached. However its not strictly a freezer alarm its an indoor outdoor talking thermometer from cobolt for blind people. The remote sensor just is on the end of a bit of thin wire and can be glued inside and the wire has to exit past the seal which may or may not cause long term issues. I imagine the figures you quote are written by some marketing drone who has never used a freezer alarm. Brian

I have assumed that and ordered one, with a 3m sensor lead. It has to reach from freezer in the utility though a wall into kitchen so it can be heard when it is triggered.
Just very odd that all the ebay ads for these things missed off the minus sign.
We have a small alarm that uses a reed switch + magnet, and sounds a loud buzzer if the door is open more than a minute or so (delay adjustable).
