Flourescent tubes. 1200/1214-1500/1514mm

Have a failing tube with no markings apart from wattage (35W).

It looks like 5ft, but wtf are there ones an extra 14mm available ?

You know sometimes answers actually leave you knowing less than before you asked ?

A T5 35W fluorescent tube is 1449mm long. A 5ft T8 fluorescent tube is 1524mm log and rated at 58W

The T5s have smaller pin spacings than the T8s.

A T8 is your bog standard fluorescent tube and the T5 is more like to be used in specialist fittings or under cupboard lighting.

Maybe a picture or description of your fitting would help?

And have a read of

formatting link
Not all of it, just the bit at the start that explains tube sizes. That should help you out.

BTW if it's a T4 (as pointed out in the above link and standard sizes) then I suggest you wait for a windy day and then go outside for a piss.

Does that help you out a bit more?

Cheers

Perfect., TX :)

In a total brain fart moment, I returned from screwfix this morning with a *4*ft tube ...

The only think I could be sure of was it was a G13 fitting.

The old tube seems to say:

Philips MCFE??_80W/35 Made in France

More to the point what is the colour of the one which has gone. I'm convinced warm white last less time than the blue or pinky ones do, or used to. Brian
