Flat roof recommendations please.

Not a lot of help I know but I was going to have my flat roof done in lead

I was thinking of doing mine in the rubber stuff, but i`ve never done a roof before :-}

Use a decent quality roofing felt with an underlay and it should last

Some of these modern roofing 'systems' seem a good idea in practice but problems develop after only a few years, due to thermal contraction, sunlight etc..etc.

Lead would be good but very expensive and the roof joists would probably need strengthening.

When had our (36m2) flat roof repaired 2 years ago, we investigated the modern systems, and as most of the neighbouring properties also have large flat roofs of the same age, we asked around what systems they had used and most reported problems with the "new" systems. Now, whether or not this was due to poor workmanship, I wouldn't know, but in the end though we went for the traditional "3 ply" torched on felt solution (with sbs felt).
