Fill in gap above microwave

I have taken out an integrated microwave from a kitchen unit. The hole is 450 x 600. The new microwave is 380 x 600, so there is a gap above it that is 70 x 600 that I need to fill. Any suggestions for what to put in there, please?

The kitchen units are beech and the chances of matching that are nil. The new microwave is stainless steel, so maybe something that goes with stainless steel?

Stainless steel mesh or grill? With folded edges to secure it, obviously.

Stainless steel with some of those louvres that Morgans and other old cars have in their bonnets. Airflow, and stylish-looking.

This fella might even make it for you:

Get a length of beech style plinth (or whatever's smallest) from B&Q? All their kitchen bits can be bought separately

I've more or less decided on a stainless steel splashback, cut down to size. Free cutting service. £25, including delivery.

It's only 0.9mm thick, but they will do multiples cuts on the sheet, so in theory I can end up with half a dozen 7cm wide pieces from a 42cm sheet.
