I prefer answers that set out to be helpful, rather than ones that either attempt clumsy humour or are intended to demonstrate the responder's alleged superior intellect. If my question demonstrated my ignorance or stupidity surely that's all the more reason for taking a more charitable approach.

Your mistake was to assume that everyone automatically sees the poster?s email address. I hadn?t a scooby what you were on about until someone pointed out that it was your email provider you were on about.

Under the circumstances, I wasn?t surprised that other folk were equally mystified by your post.

I also confess I also had no idea what f2s was!

I was aware it was a question about freedom 2 surf. At one time it was an OK ISP but changed overnight 17 years ago when taken over by one of the larger telecoms companies. Overnight the on-line customer service went from a friendly can-do organisation to one that just blatantly lied about problems and port blocking.

On the change of ownership they blocked ports associated with text based Usenet from around 8am to 8pm every day and then denied doing so.

I was one of their customers but changed ISP around a month after the takeover.

Sorry, I just thought everyone had heard of f2s. I live and learn. I thought that if there was a general problem loads on here would be aware of it. It came back on after 36 hours.
