The ones that looked like ordinary filament lamps were 50V on my lathes. I don't recall them having anything to stop you putting them in a 240v BC socket though. The halogen lamps were 24V H1 fitting, presumable because they were readily available for commercial vehicles.
An office I sometimes work in, the cleaners regularly plug their heavy vacuum cleaners into the sockets provided on top of desks.

The office I work in (some of the week at least) used to have cleaners with Henrys. Now they've ditched those and switched to backpack, battery powered vacs. It looks like the cast of Ghostbusters.
When I re-wired my mum's house (it didn't have 13 amp rings before) I deliberately installed extra convenient sockets for hoovering.
But she still unplugged things and used the new ones in the same place as the older ones she'd always used. Basically, you can't win.
Has been known to happen in NHS ITU's too.
Happened at the Sema Group Office in Kings Cross many years ago when someone unplugged the Colt fibre optic termination box down in the basement presumably to use a power tool or recharge a phone and forgot to plug it back in. The Colt (Clot) engineer located at the nearby BT exchange immediately saw the power-fail messages on their monitoring system but didn't bother to phone up and check. This was Friday afternoon and after 8 hours the BBU ran out and the entire phone system in the building went dead.
For most businesses this would not matter but there was a cable & wireless telecoms group outsourced in the building providing
24*7 support to their world-wide billing and customer care systems. When Barbados suffered a batch failure the oncall C&W bod tried to dial in from home into the server in the building in order to login to the VMS Alpha system out in Barbados, but the line was dead.None of the Sema group managers had made their mobile phone numbers available !. The oncall C&W bod phoned BT and reported a fault and the Colt engineer went to the Sema building but was refused entry by security, because they didn't know who he was and why he was there on a Saturday !.
There was an art-deco Osram factory at hammersmith which is now a huge tesco, but the ornate towers were kept as part of the development.
