Electrical installation in a cloakroom

I just want to check on whether there are any specific requirements for the electrical installation in a cloakroom.

This has a WC and handbasin only, no shower etc.

As I read it in Section 601 of BS7671, the room would not count as a bathroom for that reason.

This would appear to make the rules the same as for any other, but I may have missed something somewhere else.

However, is there a requirement to bond the radiator?

Are there any requirements for the light switch? The present one is a pull cord, and I could not find a reason that it needs to be, other than perhaps the original electrician was lazy. Perhaps there was an earlier regulation that applied in the 80s?

Given the above, I would also assume no specific luminaire IP requirements?

I agree

I don't think so.

Don't think so.

None specific, but "suitable for the location" (how bad is your aim :-))

Correct.

Not unless Reg. 413-02-04 (i) requires it, which is most unlikely if you have modern MCB/RCD protection.

Main boding would of course apply to any metal services rising in this room, but you haven't mentioned that, so I doubt it applies.

No, and not that I'm aware of.

No, other than general suitability of all equipment for its environment.

Good. thanks

Well I wasn't thinking of a pencil beam to illuminate it. Actually a wide angle spotlight would be needed of course.....
