Three discs on the same holder? The design must have changed in some way.

It's horrendous, the spindles are longer and when the case has 3 discs at the top and 3 at the bottom there is a step on one of them so you put this disks in in the right order. Presumably saves money a a box set now just takes one, admittedly bigger, case instead of, say, one for each season. I end up bending the disks nearly in half to get them out.

I tried to get digital versions but couldn't find any.

Now you mention it, I think I have a box set where two discs are stored together on one spindle, touching each other.

But even ordinary single disc sell-through DVD cases often have a very tight grip on the disc, leading to apprehension as to whether the disc might break.

Do you mean online?

I have a vague feeling that once upon a time when you bought a DVD from Amazon they made digital copies available, I may be wrong or it may be just for music. It would be useful though. Perhaps it was just for the window in which it was legal for individuals to make their own back up copies.

a long time ago, Sun sent me a Solaris 9 media kit, which consisted of about 10 or 12 CDs - all stacked together in a cake box thing with no individual wrappers :-\
