I has sprung to mind, that a shower curtain with stiffening plastic ribs attached vertically would stop the age old problem of the plastic sticking to the user, due to the shower downdraft, water surface tension etc. It would be better an a weighted version, and still fold up OK. Oh well, there goes the patent. Any idea where such material could be obtained ? Simon.

Ordinary shower curtain material, pleat it, and sew up the pleat edges. You could then insert some plastic rod into the channels thereby created.
It might be rigid enough if you run a hefty bead of silicone sealant along the inside of the pleat before sewing.
(Get irrevocable written permission from the OIC Domestic before using her sewing machine to sew silicone sealant.)

Dammed if I can remember the name .... but; at the Grand Design Show (Excel) I came across a rather neat shower curtain-cum-screen design. It consisted of a chromed 'panel' that was affixed to the wall at the short (tap) end of the bath; the 'panel' rotated upwards to form a horizontal rail across which a fan-folded length of curtain was pulled. The demonstrator claimed it was rot-proof, water-proof and it's fan-fold curtain didn't get 'sucked-into' the bath. When 'showering' ceased the fan-fold curtain was pushed back to the wall and the rail rotated downwards to encompass the curtain leaving a visible 2~3(?) inch chromed bar.
