Dishwasher failure (Neff/Bosch etc)

Dishwashers turn to play silly buggers tonight. It's a Neff S5555X0GB/56 dishwasher (Bosch etc) about 5 or 6 years old.

It Started a wash cycle and stopped half way through with no lights on control panel and high pitched whinning/electrical whistle coming from door (control panel) Water in bottom still hot and dirty, looks like it had done a fair bit of wash cycle.

To start with when door opened then shut the drain cycle attempted for less than a second then stopped, a few "chugs" of the pump then back to the whistle. Did this all the time water level was up, still no lights showing on display (normally shows time remaining in minutes)

Drained water and removed filter and impellor cover. Impellor spinning freely. Re-assembled and switched on. Just the whistle now still with no lights, presumably as no water in sump so no draining being triggered.

Any ideas? The absence of lights/timer and whistling has me thinking control panel but hopefully someone has come across a similar problem as it seems to be a very common and multi-branded machine.

Cheers Pete@
