So where does one buy a generic dishwasher cutlery basket? Ours is shot full of holes and a replacement from Zanussi is over 20 quid, and I'll be f***ed if I'm paying that. Tried all the likely places like Woolies and the DIY sheds but haven't seen one yet.

My cutlery basket is similarly worn out so I had a look around; there's not a lot out there. I eventually found these three which might be of interest. Still not all that cheap though

just had the one AEG basket at the top.
How can prices be so high for a small plastic basket? there's a niche in the market here I think.
How about getting hold of some perforated stainless steel plate and dropping some bits of that into the existing basket?

I had been thinking along these lines but using copper wire to repair the bottom of the basket. Is copper wire suitable?
What's the problem with £15 for a cutlery basket?
By the time an alternative is put together, which is going to be a bodge anyway, it's not worth it in time and effort.
Copper wire would not last any length of time in a dishwasher.
There are certain things that it makes sense to fix, but not this one.

I got so fed up with the results in my Bosch dishwasher (for cutlery) that I now do it by hand. It's satisfying and the washing is superb.

I could imagine you might get some interesting electrolytic reactions going on, which might end up damaging some piece of cutlery too.
Incidently, CPC sell replacement cutlery baskets for some dishwashers. They mostly aren't in the catalogue though -- like most of their white goods spares, you have to ring up.

Thanks, looks like I can get a Hotpoint one for around £8, which seems a lot more reasonable than the £20+ I was originally looking at for a Zanussi replacement.
