I have a cheap dash cam, about £15 a year or two ago. It works remarkably well apart from the time and date changing in an odd way.
However there's always a shadowy image of the vent grille below, reflected by the windscreen.
I think a polarising filter would fix this, it certainly works for my eyes with polarising sunglasses. Problem is getting something to fit nicely.
But what about some anti-reflective film on the windscreen in front of the camera? Would that work?
Adhesive polarizing film is available e.g. from Amazon. I've never tried it.

Thanks, but I think I need either a polarising filter for the camera which is tricky as it's an about 22mm OD protrusion, or maybe I need something for the windscreen to stop the reflection. Trouble is, I don't know if that would work.
Try putting one lens of a pair of polarising sunglasses in front of the lens and rotate them to see if there is a position that minimises the reflection. If there is, it will be worth buying a proper filter and making sure you fit it at the same minimum-reflection rotation.
Whereabouts on the screen is the dashcam? Mine is high up, just within the area of screen that the wipers sweep, and behind the rear-view mirror on the passenger side so it is just hidden by the mirror itself so it only obscures the part of the screen that the mirror obscures. And in that position, there is no reflection from anything (eg air vents) on the dashboard. If you have the camera low down (eg where a tax disc used to go) then reflections could be more of a problem.
