Damp Window Sill

May 02, 2012 1 Replies

I need to do some exterior treating of exterior wooden window frames. They are brown Sadolin / Ronseal and some has flaked off. The flaked sill needs to dry out. Any tips on how to speed up drying the wood between rain showers. Is it worth taping some polythene over the sill or will this make things worse?

I'd have thought that if you taped above and to the sides, so it could still vent from below that would be a good compromise. And if the area is great consider putting some wooden blocks under the polythene to hold it away from the damp wood.
