CU spit load internal wiring

Does anyone know the required spec for internal split load wiring in a CU ? I am expanding the number of RCBOs and the split load sections are getting smaller, and the MK supplied cables from main switch to RCD sections may be too short. The cable looks like approx 16mm^2 (maybe a bit less) flexible multi-strand with ferrules on the ends. Can I just use any 16mm^2 cable of the correct colour to do the job ?

The TLC direct into says: This kit MUST be used to ensure compliance with BS 5486 Part 13/BS EN 60439-3 and is only suitable for Sentry Consumer Units.

Don't they use fine stranded tri-rated cable?

With the fine stranded wire, you do want to use ferrules so it stays firmly gripped, the factory made kits will use heavy duty hydraulically crimped terminals.

Yes.

I think if I extended the split load wiring by connecting on another pre-made cable using a single pole henley block (if space to put it inside the CU) nobody could complain. I don't have the equipment for crimps that size.

How long do you want them? I might have something that is suitable.

I would hope the terminal screw would exhibit the same force as any hydraulic crimping tool.

Place ferrule onto the wire and a squeezed with pliers before putting into the terminal and screwing it up. Remove and inspect if there are any concerns.
