CT clamp question

I bought a cheapo energy monitor to track the energy consumption of my heat pump but the CT clamp is too small to fit to the tail entering the consumer unit for my heat pump.

Can I replace it with a bigger one? I presume certain characteristics need to be matched to get an anything like accurate (or even approximate) reading.



Any suggestions?

they're specified by input:output current ratio, the existing should one say what it is, my eyes just about see 100:1? If you get it wrong, it'll measure double, or half, or whatever ...

Yes. It's just a ratio measurement.
