CPC / WebFree

Just doing a CPC order and noticed they've got their Webfree banner up - no dates listed so grab it while you can, subject to terms and conditions and actually wanting something from CPC of course.

Useful reminder - thanks I seem to recall that they were going to be doing it all the time so maybe that is why there is no obvious expiry date.

Having just checked out my order it looks like they've reshuffled the whole shebang and I've boobed. It's the same as the old Webfree banner but doesn't mention the Webfree bit! It's now free delivery on everything but, even over £50, it's now a 3-5 day service with Next Day being a chargeable extra.

The Terms & Conditions haven't been updated to reflect this tho by the look of it.

What I have observed is that if the order value is low (possibly lower than the previous £40 for free delivery), the goods are sent out first class post. They don't get delivered next day if they are dispatched late in the day (unlike UPS which almost always seems to be delivered next day IME, even when you select

3-5 day delivery). OTOH, first class post items can be delivered on a Saturday, whereas UPS can't (unless you pay extra).

It's been free on any size order for two or three months now. Most orders, in practice, arrive next day. Unless it's tiny, in which case first class post and a possible day's delay as noted.

They've never offered free next day - that's always been extra - but in practice it has been.

Yep, delivery is much slower than before, more use of Royal Mail than UPS, not seen any case of ordering one day and delivery the next for a very long time now.

Last thing I ordered did arrive next day by RM. Maybe just coincidence

-although it was ordered in the morning early on. I'd guess if they're going for the cheapest option they may not have a collection so late in the day. But think I'd rather have a day's delay than pay what was several quid for next day.

Up to what order value is this?

I'd sort of guessed it still went out UPS if £45 or more, but my own sample size is too small to be significant yet.

More to do with weight/size I think.

Be interesting to see how mine fares - £90ish order and will be a courier sized box (one of the 300W lighting strobes + a few assorted small things.)

I like the idea that they'll use RM now. I've felt a twit ordering a tenners worth of small bits under the Webfree thing only for it to arrive in a box the size of Greenwich by courier.

Maybe, but despite early morning orders, even really small things, small jiffy bag size, are not being processed on the same day, or if they are it's very late evening and misses the collection. Could be that the order volumes are much higher.

Well, ordered yesterday lunchtime and here with the UPS man at 9.30. Quick as ever.

Ordered yesterday mid afternoon, arrived this morning 0830 by Royal Mail. Value just under £40 small box (6 x 6 x 12" ish).
