Compact flush unit

Hi,

I imported a compact toilet from overseas 20+ years ago.

The internal flush valve eventually broke and I had to replace it.

The original flush unit was an unusual/proprietary mechanism whereby the pneumatic button lifted the cover/disk from the flush pipe exit and that disk latched onto a polystyrene float, which ultimately released the disk/cover again when all the water had drained from the cistern. It gave a pretty powerful flush.

I replaced it with a modern generic compact flush unit from Screwfix, which also seems to have a narrower pipe fitting.

The flush performance of the toilet is now pretty bad and it takes a good few flushes to clear the pan sometimes.

So my question - what is the name of the original flush mechanism that I described ? Can anyone recommend an off the shelf compact flush unit, which might give a better performance ?

Thanks

c.

Usually the flap is worn. I got spares from the local plumber's merchant (or Amazon - I forget).
