I have planed a load of melamine coated furniture boards over the last few weeks. Some of the melamine melted and stuck to the bas and the blade holder.
Has anyone had excperience of gettring rid of this stuff without damaging the planer?

Assuming no plastic parts or coatings that can get damaged with contact with the cleaner - acetone?
Why were you planing melamine coated board? Melamine veneer is 0.3 to 0.5mm thick. Usually on a chipboard or mdf substrate, it is extremely hard wearing. The acetone sounds a good idea
If its plastic, then maybe some gentle application of heat and it might just peel off, assuming the machine has no thermoplastic parts. Brian

Not me. I believe it's thermoset, if so heat won't help. A scraper or grit that's softer than the planer's steel base would work, eg ali lids. Cream cleaner is somewhat effective at getting rid of residues, it's a very soft fine grit.
