Central heating costs

Hi,

I accept that the question I have is very open ended and being in a trade I hate it when people ask a ,'What would it cost to....?' type question, but...

I'm trying to get an idea of what a gas central heating system might cost typically. It would be 3 or 4 radiators in a 2 bed cottage. Thing is I have absolutely no ball park figure in my head, just a complete blank so it could be anywhere from 1,000 to 10,000.

Andy.

Depends upon where you are in the country as most of the cost is labour!, but i'd say at most 3k, materials are around 1k, and normally rounds upto a weeks work for a plummer.

hope is of use Jon

Would you be doing all the work apart from the gas work?

I wasn't intending to do a lot other than maybe shift and carry if needed to be honest.

I think the previous answer of around 3k sounds reasonable, I hate going into things without having a clue of expected costs.

I would get several quotes if I were you, from small, local plumbers. Preferably on recommendation.

We had new combi boiler plus 10 new rads fitted in 4 bed detatched house about two years ago to replace old system. Took two men two days cost £2900, yours need not cost too much.

I had central heating installed in a small house in London last year. Two beds two receptions and Kitchen/Bathroom.. and Hall..9 radiators in total, It cost £2400. Your place sounds much smaller than that. John..

I hope you don't live near Guildford as my quote for 3 radiators and a towel rail with a gas combi was £3500 incl. or over £4500 with British Gas. 13 requests for quote and only three replies. Not enough Corgi engineers in Surrey
