Just been cleaning the carpet in the lounge - only to realise that what I thought was grubbiness was a shadow cast by a tinsel decoration hanging from the centre of the light fitting.

BTDTGTTS. Spent ages once trying to remove a greenish stain from a cream carpet. Turned out to be the sun shining through a green glass ornament thingy.
