If it's a decent parametric equaliser, can be well worth having given how poor most speaker systems are in cars. But preferably in a menu somewhere you'd not normally access. Because once set, not really needed again.
There would be something to be said for a front panel that only included the commonly used controls. With everything else accessible via a PC or phone etc. And maybe even with the main controls assignable so you could decide what you most use.
