Can you get...

A push fit led that will fit those garden lights that have the push in little filament lights?

OK so it would need to have in internal rectifier as the lights run on 12 v AC, and would need some wide dispersion system to illuminate the globes they are normally in, but the current bulbs though fine seem very wasteful of energy. Brian

These are usually wedge bulbs IIRC. You can get wedge LED replacements. They always have a rectifier even for DC use, so the bulb doesn't care which way around it is inserted. There is more than one size wedge base, and need to make sure the LED is the same.

These are specialist items which you will need to search for from specialist LED suppliers.

Many of these try to emit light in all directions, although this is not necessarily optimal depending on the luminare, so you might want to look for some which happen to emit light only in the directions which are useful in your particular case.

If only that was true. If they have a rectifier the ones I purchased are only halfwave so they would flicker like hell. How do I know? they only light one way round on a 12v DC supply.

They were from Amazon market place and were ~£2 for ten and are side light replacements.

Hmm, I thought wedge bulbs were the kind with a couple of metal strips one each side with a little plastic pointed section to act as a run in on the holder. Brian

There's also a type where the wedge is simply made from the pinched off bottom of the glass bulb. That's what I've seen used in outdoor lights, but there are almost certainly other bulb types used in some makes - you'll need to know what type yours have.

Andrew Gabriel presented the following explanation :

Not always - some either light up or not, then you have to unplug, reverse the lamp and reinsert.
