Cabin hooks

Looking to replace the cabin hooks that hook back our conservatory doors. They are 200mm but really ought to be 250mm. I can see some nice ones on Amazon described as "Cabin Hook 250mm Satin Chrome From The Door Handle Store".

Now, WTF is "Satin Chrome"? Sounds like plated to me, no good if they're gonna rust (like the chrome bumpers on our 1954 Zephyr Zodiac). Stainless would be better, of course, but they don't seem to exist at that length.

A less shiny chrome finish

Plated brass would be ok, why not ask them?

Contact them? What a concept!

Thanks - that's done.

A dull, rather than polished finish. Similar to a brushed finish.

Ah - the good ol' days. ;-) How long chrome lasts depends rather on how it's been done. And what the base metal is.

You might be able to get something like that made.

Yeah - thanks Den, but that's brass not a steel lookalike.

Got your Platinum card? Several to choose from here, but maybe other chandlers might have them at a lower price:

They don't rust. I have one on my gate.

Chrome without the most polished finish, more of a matt finish.

Sounds like plated to me, no good if

A variety of finishes in 250mm at ironmongerydirect.co.uk - not SS though. Brass, pewter, galvanised, chrome, black ...

Yeah, found all those places with Giggle. I might try that outfit on Wincheap, Hinges and Brackets. They have some odd stuff there ...
