Bulk yogurt maker

I'm looking for advice on making a yogurt incubator. The commercially-available devices I've seen so far make a maximum of 1000ml of culture. But after filtration (to get the texture right), the yield is only about 600ml. I'd like to treble this batch size. The idea so far is to use an insulated picnic hamper, and install a suitable low wattage heater and a thermostat to keep the culture at about 43C. The culture would be in 3 x 1000ml plastic jugs inside the hamper.

Suggestions gratefully accepted, especially from anyone who has been there/done that/etc.

I've participated in the design of an incubator for chicken eggs.

An easy way to make sure the inside is all at the same temperature is to add a fan. This will of course increase evaporation, but in a couple of minutes, the thing gets humid, and that stops. Will also dramatically decrease the time it takes to get the jugs to temp.

No previous experience, but perhaps a couple of the links in the pdf below might be of help... (watch the wrap)

I used to do DIY Yoghurt in a tall square tupperware pot. Held about 1 Litre. To heat it I simply used a wine/beer fermentation band. The sort of thing you wrap around your home brew barrel. It was wound in a spiral fasion up the tupperware pot.

Worked superbly. Stopped doing it as I ended up eating far too much yoghourt.

SWMBO does it in a similar way, but using a Tupperware jug. Basic mixture is made from live yoghurt + (Marvel powder + water), because you can make it nice and thick. Jug put in the boiler space overnight. Quick, cheap and delicious. And the yoghurt's quite good, too...

I used to do it by putting containers on the back of the fridge at the top. No thermostatics but worked well. Could fit several 2 liter drinks bottles there.
