Blown plaster caused by disintegrating brickwork

Yes, I thought it an excellent guide too.

I had noticed the existence of mortar guns before but assumed they were a gimmick. From what you say I'm very tempted to get one as I also have a garden wall in need of pointing as well as these blown bricks.

Has anyone got any specific brand recommendations? Google/eBay brings up

Everbuild at about £30, Roughneck and Faithfull at about £20-£25, Hilka £15, Silverline £10 (isn't that Aldi brand?).

Roughneck seems to have most sellers.

One of those things you might not use often, but when you have a use for it, it is quicker and more effective than "trowelling", particularly for filling deep holes completely.

need of pointing

I wouldn't use one for this. Why? they're rather fussy about the mortar mix , which will waste plenty of time. Then you've got to clean it out afterwar ds.

Silverline is not Aldi.

I've had a couple, I doubt if there is very much to chose between them. One came from SF/TS and it certainly looks like the Roughneck pictures (< £20 from SF/TS/Wickes). You might be getting extra tools or nozzles with the more expensive one.

Silverline is generic, Silver Crest is a Lidl name.
