There is a block of flats to the back of my house, and to the right of it.The area leading to the garages has floodlights. SON type, so prettybright. Seem to be meant to be on from dark to about midnight, judging bythe good ones.The one closest to me fires up throughout the day, gets up to fullbrightness, then switches off. Does this when dark too. Has likely beenworked on as it no longer points to the ground - but straight at my house.Very annoying, now the evenings are dark and squirts right into my eyeswhen I'm using the kitchen.The block was originally council, but I'd guess most if not all are nowprivate. Did find someone called the caretaker, and complained to him, butthat was ages ago, and nothing has been done.Any tips - other than a shotgun?

You are not alone in your low tolerance threshold, I am the same. There is a house at the back of us, several hundred yards away, who have such a light, similarly positioned. The light shines across straight into our kitchen window, blinding you when at the sink.

I also have poor tolerance for low frequency noise, from the likes of little cars with those wide exhausts, set up to make maximum noise to compensate for their small willy. I find it quite painful.

You would hate sitting in my Mums lounge when there is a (or a certain type of) bus at the stop opposite her house. When they sit there at tickover the resonance is very loud and goes right through you. ;-(

At least with noisy exhausts or loud ICE they tend to drive past ...

I've got one of those too in the garden which runs along the end of ours. It's on the side of a rather nice and expensive custom made gazebo, to light the way into the small tool shed behind it. Where a bulkhead fitting would do a better job than these pesky floodlights wrongly set.

But it's not used very often.

I have LED floodlights lighting my garden too. They came with PIRs (which I didn't need) and with the supplied brackets prevented them being tilted down sufficiently to light only the wanted area. So I removed them. I suppose the PIRs would no longer work when obstructed by the lamp body.
