Best weather resistant board for outdoors?

Jun 10, 2017 5 Replies

I need to rebuild my garages people entry small back door. I rebuilt it some 12 to 15 years ago with ply, which a local hardware supplier suggested was suitable, but now it is de-laminating and needs to be rebuilt.

It will be in the weather 24/7, what is recommended please - the look of it is not that important?

Do they do a plastic panel which might be better - I have in mind that type of L shaped expanded plastic, about 6mm thick, as used for modern house facias, but a flat, door sized piece of that.

Buffalo board is pretty good (if expensive).

Real marine ply, especially with edges protected by hardwood, and re-varnished every year or two.

There are various types of recycled plastic boards, Google for that.

The various types of melamine faced plywood used for lining showers are also pretty good. Mermaid, Aquapanel? You probably don't want the 1960's fake marble look though.

Plastic coated steel roofing panels from eBay (over plywood or T&G).

Thanks, I will look into those..

Foamalux Xtra might be suitable.

Thanks..

I had a similar problem about a year ago. After exausting local suppliers, I looked on ebay and found a firm who would make a door to my size. You'll have to look for yourself since I can't find the details
