Bargain bathroom suite from EBAY

Feb 15, 2011 7 Replies

Started fitting a bathroom for a lady today. She bought it from someone on EBAY and it was a 'real bargain'. Don't know what she paid, but she was happy.

Left me a key & went off to the Isle of Wight for a week. "Call me if you have any problems".

Tried to assemble the bog, one of those silly ones where the bolts go through the base of the cistern. No bolts. No fill valve. Half the flush missing. No push button. No seat.

Basin. No taps. No waste. Bath seems Ok.

Spent 2 hours shopping, mainly for those silly through bolts.

Not quite the bargain she thought...

Was this suite used? If so no matter how much of a bargain it was i would not buy such an item from ebay.

When pulling out an old kitchen when we bought our current house i listed it on ebay as i thought it would be usefull to someone as storage in the garage/shed, ended up getting £120 and the buyers were going to install it as a kitchen but it had seen better days. Knicker drawer or cup of tea first?

Yeah, thanks for that mental image.

Having been involved in someone else's kitchen which was pulled out, first for damp treatment, and then again to repair the floor, I would say that standard flat-pack kitchens are designed to be installed exactly once.

It looked like crap afterwards, and was all chucked out and replaced.

I think I could remove and re-install one I had fitted, but not one than was "professionally" [spit] fitted, and later removed by the damp treatment builders ;-)

Posh ones, however, can be a lot more forgiving.

When I was a driving instructor I taught a girl whose family were selling their rather large (two swimming pools sort of large) house. They were fitting a new kitchen to it "To help sell it". So I took away the old one as it wasn't very old and good solid stuff.

The new people didn't like the kitchen - I know, 'cos I was teaching one of their kids too. So I had that one too.

Fitted out two ordinary sized kitchens each plus some left over for workshops.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "ARWadsworth" saying something like:

Look for the hidden camera first.

In message , Grimly Curmudgeon writes

And when you have found the obvious hidden one then look for the real hidden one.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you
