The difference with the banks is that the govt was funding short term requirements (some of which were to satisfy the govt's own rules with regard to capitalisation). And I share the opinion of some others that the investment in RBS etc will be repaid with substantial interest, so in fact the govt will gain cash from the private sector overall, and certainly not lose out.

Ah, the infamous Blue Lagoon chain, skinniest fish achievable by human hand, lard laden batter and chips, generally avoided by sober locals.

My local chippie was Italian family run and award winning until last year when it changed hands to a 'trusted' relative, result disaster in the deep fried food department but revelation on the waistline, cost

4.50ish for fish supper.

Because the fat can be maintained at a higher temperature than the usual 'healthy' alternatives, cooking in beef dripping produces a much crispier, tastier, better cooked product with significantly less entrained fat and is therefore much more healthy than the vegetable fat laden pappy undercooked crap available everywhere south of Sheffield.

Not a healthy option for the cow though is it? That's why I wouldn't entertain it. But then I wouldn't want to eat the cow's corpse either. :-)
