Yup that is kind of odd - even the threads lifted from here are only partially complete, and as you say they have new posts pasted on years later.
You would think when folk design such glue on interfaces they would research about how Usenet works and allow for lack of graphics and getting on the backbone before unleashing it on some unsuspecting member of the public. Brian
I suspect they don't care. A usenet feed gives them lots of "free" content that will turn up in search results, and their pages will serve that up along with some targeted ads. They make money from the ad revenue, and need to invest nothing in content creation.
