Altering a door

Hi all. Could a door like this one be altered to add a glass/window. eg cutting out the top half of the middle stile along with the panel either side of it.. Adding a piece of the removed piece to be the base for a double glazed unit to fill the remaining rectangular hole.

If it is necessary, how difficult is it to disassemble the outer stiles?

Almost certainly more trouble than it's worth. You'd probably have to re-do the rebates to take the dg panel. Might as well make it from scratch
