Aldidl Staplers

I've been looking for some staples for astapler that I bought a few years ago from Aldidl. The size is:

4 - 14 mm length 1.2 - 1.3 mm thick 11 - 12 mm wide It's the width that seems to be the problem - all the common ones are 9 - 10.6 mm, where I can actually find the measurement - most just give the part number, e.g. 140. Of course, the leaflet with the stapler doesn't give any source of staples and I'm down to one strip. Don't use it much, but it's just been very useful on a job.

Any ideas as to where to get staples, please?

Have you checked the stapler all over, really carefully, to see whether there are any clues about staple sizes stamped on? Including removing all the staples, to see under there.

Same problem - no dimensions given.

I'd managed to find the width of these but wasn't sure that the 10.6 mm would quite be enough. I need a couple of things from TS, so these are now on the order.

Last time I looked for odd size staples I found a seller giving size info. Ordered only to find they weren't the sizes stated at all.

I've got an old Craft branded electric stapler from Aldidl and 10.8 wide staples are too narrow for my unit. I've found that nothing from SF and Toolsatan fitted. I too now have a stapler with only a reserve of half a strip.

I've got a Lidl one. and found some for a Bosch stapler that fit. Ages ago. Don't use it much so still have stocks.

It looks as if T53 series staples @ 11.3 mm width from Toolstation may fit

Phew! That was close - I don't want loads of staples that don't fit. Just done a bit of measuring: 12mm would be pushing it and 10.6 probably wouldn't go in - 10.8 might just. Current staples are 11.65 and are almost snug on OD.

Thanks for the link - looks as if I can get some that are just about right. Now to write down the nos. without transposing digits - the last drink in the pub was 50 cl at 8.2%; a lovely, cloudy, German wheat beer.

Up date 2 I purchased some Tacwise 53 Series Staples 12mm (11.3mm width) from Toolstation this morning and they fit my Craft branded electric stapler purchased from Lidl/Aldi a few, or more, years back. The unit works with these staples.

At the time the purchase price for the stapler was probably in the £15 to £20 region.

There are a few gothas: The unit will not take the full 4 inch length of the joined staples as they come in the packet. The stapler can take both staples or nails and the sprung slide that pushes the staples to the business end steps wider by 1mm at around the 3 inch mark for its nail function. This means that the 4 inches of joined staples need to be broken at around 3 inches so they fit without fouling this part of the slide. This is not a problem, just an annoyance.

My stapler chews up the staples and doesn't fire them out when there are only 3 or 4 left in the carrier - but this is probably just down to poor design.

Snap - almost. Got some Rapid 53 i n 8mm and 12 mm from TS this morning. Now, I've been concentrating on the 'crown' - seems to be the correct term for the OD of the 'span' - and forgot about the width(?). The Rapid are narrower than the original ones, so the stapler will fire a 12mm staple full depth into seasoned pine, even on min. setting. I don't know if the Tacwise are wider - I got the Rapid because they stated clearly that they were galvanised.

Yes - the key point is to avoid a v. short strip left over. I've 4 - 5 of the old 8mm and need a tool to get them in as me fingers is too big.

I wonder if it's due to the narrower staples. The Powercraft are 1.13mm and the Rapid are 0.63mm.
