One of the symptoms was looking out of the window whilst in class, that deserved a smack around the head.

I didn't realise I had that! One winter's day I was looking out the window during a maths lesson and the teacher said 'What are you doing?' I said 'I'm counting the snowflakes sir.' He gave me 20 lines! :)

Each one different and unique?

No, something like 20 times 'I must pay attention in class'.

Myself and two other friends used to count the seagulls on the football pitches during A-level Physics lessons - purely because the excellent teacher we'd had up to O-level wasn't taking A-level classes that year and the teacher who was was boring to start with, but also droned on in a monotone.
