No-one *has* to go to university, I didn't.

Many *old* people have never owned their home and don't have a private pension.

On the other hand most of today's generation are earning the minimum wage or more which is much greater than the state pension.

I guess Iceland know their customers better than you do.

But the so called gold plated pensions for most people didn't come for free. To be worth anything the you paid into the schemes for 40+ years and most of them morphed 20 years ago into something less beneficial.

Many younger people won't even be asked for an interview for positions without a degree.

Experience will only get you so far too. My father (despite sitting on British Standards Committees and even chairing some) was never allowed to move from being a manager to being a director, as the company required all the directors to have degrees. He was also unable to join the relevant technical institute.
