Ariens snowblower spark plug connector

When replacing the sparkplug on my Ariens classic 24 snowblower, I separated the rubber cable from the end of the metal tube, and it won't go back in. Is it safe to peel off the rubber hood at the end of the rubber cable, or to pry apart enough of the metal tube to make connection. Any other solutions?

When replacing the spark plug on an Ariens snowblower, it's important to properly reattach the spark plug connector to ensure that the engine runs correctly and safely. Here are a few things you can try to fix the issue:

  1. Inspect the rubber cable and metal tube for any damage or wear. If the connector appears to be in good condition, try pushing the rubber cable back into the metal tube.
  2. If the rubber cable won't go back into the metal tube, you can try carefully peeling off the rubber hood at the end of the rubber cable. This will reveal the bare wires, which can then be inserted into the metal tube. However, it's important to note that removing the rubber hood may void any warranty on the snowblower and it's recommended to check the manual or with the manufacturer for further instructions.
  3. Another solution would be to purchase a new spark plug connector and install it. This can be found at most automotive or outdoor equipment stores, and it's best to check with the manufacturer for the correct replacement part.

You can also attempt to clean the existing connector and see if that solves the issue. It is possible to clean the spark plug connector on your Ariens snowblower, but it's important to use caution and follow the manufacturer's guidelines. Here are a few things to consider:

  1. Clean the connector with a soft brush or compressed air. This will remove any dirt or debris that may have accumulated on the connector.
  2. If the connector is greasy or oily, you can use a small amount of electrical contact cleaner to clean it. However, be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions and avoid using excessive amounts of cleaner, as it could damage the connector.
  3. Once the connector is clean, you can spray it with a small amount of dielectric grease to help protect it from moisture and corrosion.

It's important to remember that working on any type of equipment can be dangerous if not done correctly. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and guidelines, and if in doubt, seek professional help.
