Most useless power tool you own?

(hi Dave) It's been over 3 weeks since I tried to clean up my shop, and all I got done was this agreement thing with Silvan about picking up a number of items each time I went in there - so I'm avoiding the shop.

Workshop inventory

What I did when I moved to my new shop was use this program called "Every thing I own". I recorded what it was the model, serial number then snapped a pic of it as well. Took a bit of time to do but worth its weight in gold in something were to ever happen to the shop.

dust collection ducting

As it happens, friend, I didn't say anything about home shop, plastic yadda yadda in that particular post. Dust explosions, including wood dust, can and do happen and are well documented. We all have LRod to thank that one will never ever happen in a home shop.

Tyvek wrap required for shop?

We just finished framing a new garage/shop (had to give the wife part of it for her van). This garshop is detached from our house. I do plan to insulate and heat the shop area. How important, if at all, is it to install the Tyvek wrap around the exterior walls for this ...

Is it worth a career change?

The co-owner of my airplane is the co-owner of a bicycle shop that's in the top 10 of the industry's "Top 100" bicycle shop list... 8 hour day... I'll tell him that! And he's got a partner and 16 full-time employees!

powered grinding (not sharpening(?))

The shop that I work in now, ther is one other besides me that can grind a tool by hand. The last shop, I was the only one. I have worked in 100 man shops around here and you could count on one hand the number of people that could grind there own tools.

I am getting sick and tired of Canadian Tire 'Specials'

I don't criticize your choices but I don't shop a CdnTire due to their "don't care" attitude but if it works for others then I don't mind. I also shop at Lee Valley, I buy items to suit a specific need and Princess Auto suits me for a lot of situations. Jesse

DJ-20 or Grizzly G0490 8 inch jointer???

I have recently purchased the shop fox molder and the 15 inch planer. I am very happy with the quailty and workability of these machines. I have not seen any less quailty in the shop fox line so far. What would Norm do??? LOL

Teflon re-coating?

Prior to this, the use, by shop floor, to repair ptfe was taken out of their hands and it could only be done by spray shop personnel. (BAe Tornado.) Dave

Is there a switch that can do this?........

If the timer switch you are speaking off is the kind I am thinking of then they can turn power off and on depending on where you site the pins so I don't see why you are saying they are not suitable .They sit between the socket and the plug . S
