electrical code question

Yeah, in the shop that's why I have pulled in a seperate lighting circuit. But I installed a pair of duplex receptables in the ceiling to plug in shop lights. They might occassionally double as a place to plug in a drill, etc. But I have wall outlets as well on a seperate circuit.

Gas water heater anode is gone....

2 friends actually did - over 'n under shop with a pit that opened into the lower level. Front entry at the top, rear entry at the rear - work-shop -store garden tractor / snowmobiles, etc. VERY usefull!!!!!

hand tool storage

I'm slowly changing all of my shop storage from open shelves and pegboard, to rollaways, drawers, and cabinets. Open storage simply collects to much dust, overspray, etc... All shelving and cubbies will now get doors, and tools will go in drawers or boxes.

Anybody have experience with Lyptus counter tops?

Considering the way the stuff warps in the shop (bought KD, sat in the shop for a year, planed flat and square, three days later it's twisted and cupped), I'd run far and fast from any use that involved frequent moisture cycling. Oh, and it splinters. Seems to be the fad wood du ...

Planer question

I have always maintained that it is not "if" you will get hurt in the shop, it is "when" you will get hurt in the shop. After 30 years of serious woodworking I look back on my first 10 years and think, I only thought I knew all the safety precautions to take.

Festool power tools.

. ;~) One of my local associates, whom has a commercial shop, has a shelf unit full of Festool in his shop. I recently saw him sell off some Dewalt tools... Seems he found the same things you did... John

Dial caliper (digital)

I keep a set of the cheap plastic ones in the car, and in the shop; they come in handy for quick measurements, or for going to the yard to buy stock. Of course I have a digital set (accurate to 0.0005) in the shop for when I need the accuracy, and for layout. Jon

Never throw anything away

Reminds me of a friend who had an Austin 1100 gearbox first motion shaft made in the machine shop at Rolls Royce aero engines. (When I worked in the fitting shop at WD & HO Wills in Bristol, these jobs were called "foreigners".
