I built a nice building for my wife and now she would like me to add a Cupola for looks. I designed it from the start with a full 24ft ridge vent, 2x8 rafters and attic foil. The foil is amazing and keeps the Attic within a few degrees of the outside air ! The Ridge vent system is plastic and well installed. And I would like to avoid cutting into it. The whole thing works perfectly as it is. Can I install the Cupola over the ridge vent instead of cutting the middle section out ? And if I do, should I close the venting (from inside) that is directly under the cupola or does the cupola just help draw a little more hot air?
