?Need to replace the cold water valve underneath the sink but unable to remove it. Two of us have tried. Does anyone know if it would help to apply heat over the threads with a propane torch.

Maybe you could pour some bleach on it (sorry, I was making fun of an idiot who was here recently).
On top the the advice you already got, make sure you're trying to turn it in the right direction. Also make sure you hold back on the nipple coming out of the wall. Also be sure to shut off the water to the valve before removing it.
