Win 11 will sink into the horizon

I have 4 machines running 7 and they never crash. What are you doing? I never depended on Microsoft to keep me safe. I use 3d party software.

The PCjr and PS/1 were shit but the Aptivas did quite well and the laptops were very popular. It still was not a business IBM was prepared to compete in so they sold the whole mess off to Lenovo (china) where all of this shit, including your Apples are made.

I will have to check with my son that works for MS, but I thought he told me that MS was running Linux on there computer systems that handle things in the cloud.

Yes, it only takes a little memory and programming to get a software program up anda running. However Windows has a pile of useless to most programs running in the background. As the computers get faster, they seem to have to run more useless programs so the speed of the one you really care about is no faster.

Right now I have 3 programs running. Microsoft Outlook for email, a program for the news and the task manager . It shows 26 programs running and another 98 under windows running. That is over 100 unneeded for the task I am doing now.

10 is HEAD AND SHOULDERS better than 7 is SO many ways. The question for many people is whether it is enough better in enough ways that impact THEM to prompt them to upgrafr their equipment to a machine that will run W10. One day there will likely be an application they need that won't run on 7 that will tip the scales and they will buy a new Windows 11 machine or a reconditioned used W10 machine to do the job.

Stratus is a popular provider of high availability systems. Most clients focus on Server 2019 or whatever Windows OS is running in the VMs. Go poking around in the cellar and it's Red Hat Linux and KVM hosting the VMs.

No, many of them are required just to run the tasks you are running now. They are the enablers that connect your computer to the internet. They are the applications that allow the computer to connect to and download emailfrom the server to outlook. They are the apps that display the content on your screen. They are the "GUTS" of Windows (in most cases) The applications like outlook speak to the internet and the hard drive and other required components through these "useless" programs

You've got a bit of an apples/oranges confusion here...Windows being a computer operating system and iOS being Apple's smart phone and tablet OS. Not really comparable...

How do you find Mac desktop easier to navigate? When I'm in front of one I just sit and stare.

I grew up on Windows, so I guess it's a matter of what one is used to.

Well, consider a common task like uninstalling an executable. On a Mac, you drag and drop it to the trash while on a PC, you have to......

Right click and select delete - or get this - DRAG IT TO THE RECYCLE BIN. This deletes any file or folder (but does not uninstall a "program". It WILL remove the program but not the registry links and associated files which apparently Apple OS does. However. clicking on the program and selecting "uninstall" does. That is just as "intuitive" as dragging it to the garbage can - and just as "quick and easy"
