Why does anyone still use gas mowers/trimmers?

Perhaps you should live in a less crowded place.

Most everything pollutes, including the power plant producing the electricity for your electric trimmer.

Not if you actually know how to maintain and operate them.

Electric trimmers are nice if you only have a 20'x30' back yard to keep trimmed. If you have 5 or 10 acres, that won't work.

More power. My wife has the most powerful corded corded string trimmer we could find (12a) and my el chepo gas Ryobi 725 will kick it;s ass.

Mowers? get serious. A 5HP electric motor would need an 8 gauge 230v cord if you had 100' of it.

I don't think they MAKE an electric riding mower.

Maybe I could jury-rig a golf cart...

Besides that, electric mowers are for women and sissies. Power, loud noise, chance of explosion, noxious gasses, ability to fling dried dog s*it over

I really like my electric mower, but dragging the cord around got old fast. I solved that little problem by mounting my generator on the mower. It's a Honda generator, so it's fairly quiet. I don't have a photo handy, but I'm pretty sure there are some on the web. (Folks keep stopping to take pictures like they've never seen a electric mower before. Weird.)

Mowing should be a fun experience. Someday I'm putting a custom header and hand throttle on my walk behind lawnmower and duel exhaust on the riding mower. There is a market for high perforce lawnmowers. I'd buy a Harley Davidson lawnmower if they were two cylinder, kick start and sound like the cycle, I'd chrome the hell out of it. Weed trimmers? I had to drill some holes in the backside of the muffler on my weed eater so it would run and sound right. A little extra oil in the gas also helps keep the mosquitoes at bay. I'm not religious but I have neighbors that are and I figure it's my duty to wake them up in time make it to church so I usually mow early on Sunday mornings. About the time the sun comes up is a good time to start. Actually there isn't an electric mower made that would have cut the yard I did yesterday and if there were the juice would have had to come through a 50 Amp breaker.

I'm not crazy about gas mowers either, but I do love my diesel

I do love my Green Machine weed whacker. I suppose I could use an electric, but then I'd have to throw a generator in my skid steer to follow me around the property to power the thing

Please share with us what lot size you have. Would you recommend this for someone with 3 to 5 acres?

It is if the nearest outlet is 600' away. Not everyone lives in ticky-tacky houses that are spitting distance apart.
