Whirlpool tubs: piped vs. air jet

We're going to install a whirlpool tub and are considering both piped models (e.g., the WaterTech 6032 Ultra, 7236 EOW) and non-piped air jet models (e.g., Sanijet 650, 620, 420, 320).

Are there strong reasons to prefer one kind over the other? The Sanijet models are (very roughly) double the prices of the Watetech models. It's alleged that the Sanijet models do not suffer the bacterial build-up in piped whirlpool tubs.
